Reason for the application process

Coming off the most attended Summit, space is limited and demand is expected to be high. Applications are reviewed for completeness, accuracy, and to ensure that admission will not adversely impact U.S. interests. Applications are accepted based on the overall balance of attendees with respect to the source market and participant type.

Registration deadline

Registration will stay open until the Summit reaches capacity, or until June 6, 2018. The Summit registration fee will increase $100 after May 15, 2018. It is highly recommended to apply to attend as soon as possible.

Name changes are not permitted onsite. All name changes must be submitted by June 6, 2018 and must be from the same company.

Step 3: Stay Informed

Applicants will receive a confirmation email that the participant information was received. The email will provide instructions to access the application system and check the acceptance status.

  • First round vetting will begin the week of January 15
  • Status notifications will be sent on a rolling basis beginning early February, 2018
  • Notifications of approval, denial, or waitlist-status will occur 15 business days of applying after initial notifications are sent

Step 4: Payment

Applications are final once payment is received.

Credit Card
A credit card number can be provided during the application process. The form of payment will be held and only processed once the application is approved and accepted.

Check or Money Order
Applicants who select to pay via check have four weeks from the acceptance date but no later than June 1, 2018 for their payment to be received and processed..

  • In the case payment is not received within the stated time, the applicant risks being moved to the back of the waitlist and another applicant may take his/her space.
  • Only accepted and paid applicants will be able to book a hotel room. It is essential to pay as soon as possible. You will receive an invoice document with your confirmation letter.

Step 5: Book a Hotel Room

  • SelectUSA has confirmed a block of rooms at the Gaylord and neighboring hotels specifically for approved applicants.
  • Upon acceptance and receipt of payment, applicants will receive information on how to book a hotel room under the SelectUSA room block.


Step 6: Matchmaking

Matchmaking questions will be asked during the application process that will feed into matchmaking profiles. Accepted attendees will receive instructions on leveraging the matchmaking system during the Summit. Matchmaking will begin early or mid-April 2018.

What to know before applying

Applicants must be prepared to answer the following questions during the application process. Applicants may begin the process, pause, and complete it on a later date. Only completed applications will be reviewed for approval.

  • Organization name (English) – Organization name in English.
  • Organization name (Native/Local) – Organization name in the local language of the applicant’s parent company, with no abbreviations.
  • Company registration/license number – Company’s Dun & Bradstreet or local equivalent number, if available.
  • Organization year of establishment (YYYY)
  • Market of parent organization – The market in which company/parent organization is located.
  • Number of employees in organization
  • Estimated annual sales of parent company (U.S. Dollars)
  • Organizational website address (URL)
  • Organizational mission statement – A detailed organizational description (200 characters or less).
  • Additional Staff – Name and email address of any registered staffer/translator accompanying the applicant.

Booking a hotel room

It Pays to Book Directly within the Room Block! Hotel Rooms will sell out at the Gaylord- Book Early.

Hotel booking is only available to confirmed and paid attendees, sponsors, and exhibitors who have cleared the application process. Confirmed attendees will receive an email indicating they have been approved to attend. The email will include instructions to log in to the registration system to make a hotel reservation.

Waitlists

Applicants may be placed on a waitlist or denied due to space limitations or based on other criteria.

Appeals Process

Applicants who have been placed on a waitlist or denied acceptance due to a perceived mistake, space limitations, or other criteria may appeal the decision by following the process below.

Appeal Subject Line: “APPEAL” must be the first word in the subject line.
Appeals must include the following information, based on application type. All applicants should include detailed documentation to support their appeal.

  • International Firms – Detailed plans for investment in the United States, or plans to explore investment opportunities.
  • Service Providers – Anticipated role as a service provider, including the specific services that would be provided to assist EDOs or international companies to facilitate foreign direct investment in the United States.
  • Media – Detailed information on the scope, reach, and readership/viewership of your media outlet. Should also include reference to prior reporting on investment or other related topics.
  • Sponsors – Detailed background of the organization, including company executives, and clear explanation of motivations for sponsoring the SelectUSA Investment Summit.
  • International Trade Associations – Detailed information on how the association helps organizations that are seeking to invest in the United States.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Registration Cancellation

  • All cancellation requests must be received in writing and sent to SelectUSA@experient-inc.com.
  • Cancellation requests received by Friday, May 18, 2018 will be refunded, minus a $125 admin fee. Cancellation requests received after May 18, 2018 will not receive a refund. Credit card refunds will be processed within 2 weeks of receipt. Check refunds will be processed 4 weeks after the conference ends.
  • If your U.S. visa is denied, the $125 admin fee will apply at all times.
  • Name substitutions are allowed until June 6, 2018. New names must be vetted before a final registration is confirmed.

Housing Cancellations

  • Cancellations prior to 45 days (May 6, 2018) will not be charged a cancellation fee.
  • Cancellations within 44 days (May 7, 2018) will be charged one night’s room & tax.
  • Name substitutions are allowed.

Media Cancellations

  • Vetted registrants in the Media category are exempted from cancellation fees.

Visa Process

A visa may be required prior to traveling to the United States.

Other Information

  • Travelers using the Visa Waiver Program must have a valid Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval prior to travel.
  • It is strongly advised for all applicants to be knowledgeable about visa requirements and to apply for a visa or ESTA, as soon as possible.

Visa Invitation

  • Information for visa requests will be provided during the registration application process.
  • Once an application is approved a visa letter is generated and emailed to the email address provided during the registration process.

Simultaneous Interpretation

  • Plenary/General Session – SelectUSA will provide simultaneous interpretation for all plenary/general sessions in Arabic, German, French, Japanese, Korean Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, and Spanish. Other languages are not guaranteed.
  • Academy, Breakout Sessions & Matchmaking – There will be no interpretation provided for the Academy, breakout sessions, or matchmaking meetings.
  • Personal Interpreter – Applicants may bring their own personal interpreter but the interpreter must apply, register and pay to attend. Interpreters will have access to all programming which will enable them to accompany their executive during the event.
